Coverage
Nordics.
Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland. A small, well-organised sponsor community where reputation travels quickly and the candidate market is more open than anywhere else we work.
A different kind of market
The Nordic sponsor community is unusually transparent. Firms publish their teams, often with direct contact details, and the distance between a first conversation and a decision-maker is short. The same openness applies to candidates, who are generally willing to take an exploratory call in a way their counterparts in Belgium or Switzerland are not.
This cuts both ways. Access is easy, so access is not a differentiator. What matters is judgement about who is right, because the market will not hide a weak shortlist.
Where the hiring comes from
Lower mid-market buyouts dominate, with a concentrated group of firms investing in businesses between roughly ten and three hundred million euros of revenue. Business services, software and healthcare carry most of the activity, and buy-and-build is the prevailing model rather than the exception.
That produces a recurring requirement: a finance leader who can hold a group together while it acquires, in a region where cross-border structures across four countries and four currencies are normal rather than unusual.
Language and mobility
English is the working language of Nordic business and of most sponsor-backed companies. This is the one region in our coverage where language is not a constraint on the shortlist, which widens the candidate pool considerably and makes genuinely international hiring realistic.
